Lifting the status of women gives them confidence to take up leadership roles and make informed decisions for their well being.

Minister for Women Rosy Akbar made the statement while delivering her response to the President’s address in Parliament this morning.

Akbar says foremost is changing mindsets regarding gender and this is something her Ministry is working hard on.

‘There is a roadmap progress now to address gender in a more comprehensive approach and the very first in our country under this Fijian Government’.

Akbar says there has been excellent collaboration of stakeholders to move this forward.

She adds that her Ministry will continue to push for gender equality at all levels in both rural and urban areas.
