Awareness program targets youths

A large crowd gathered at the Lagilagi Housing awareness program last night which was coordinated by the Samabula Community Policing team.

The program targeted residents of both Jittu Estate and Veiquwawa settlement whereby various stakeholders came together under the “DUAVATA” banner for this program.

These included the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Youth and Sports,

Samabula Community Policing officer, acting Inspector Pio Sovalevu, says they are focused primarily on the youths to divert them from temptations of committing crime.

Sovalevu says they were able to give youths a chance to better understand what is available through various programs provided by the government as well as organisations such as UNDP.

The team will move to Wailea settlement tonight and will end their program at Tamavua I Wai on Wednesday.

The program is being funded by UNDP.
