Assessment teams deployed to the North

Detailed Disaster Assessment teams have been deployed to badly affected areas in Bua, Savusavu and Taveuni this morning.

The teams will be carrying out surveying programmes in affected villages in the next three days.

Commissioner Northern,Jovesa Vocea, says the team will be on the ground taking a detailed assessment of the damage.

The 12 teams includes representatives from major stakeholders like Police, Military Engineers, Agriculture Officers, Forestry Officers and the Provincial Administrators Office.

Surveys will be done in the affected households to determine the number of people affected as well as to get figures in case food rationing is required in the coming days.

The final report from the DDA teams will then be put together and submitted to Suva for a budget to conduct rehabilitation works.
