The safe removal of all asbestos containing material at the old Nausori market roof will commence today.
The removal process will be closely monitored and supervised by the Employment Ministry’s National Occupational Health and Safety Service department.
The Ministry is reassuring the public that this exercise will not pose any threat.
The work will be carried out by the Employment Ministry and assisted by the Nausori Town Council.
NOHSS will also conduct periodic air sampling tests during the asbestos removal process to ensure there’s no airborne threat to the public and nearby surrounding environment.
The immediate vicinity of the old market will remain closed throughout the removal process including a partial closure of the Wainibokasi Road.
