Ammunition investigation results expected within 24 hrs

The Fiji Military Forces was formally notified yesterday about the discovery of ammunition’s at the Saru Back Road in Lautoka.

Chief of Staff Brigadier General , Jone Kalouniwai says two teams have been assigned to investigate if the ammunition belonged to the Force.

He says the teams will also investigate the seriousness of finding live ammunition’s in a public place.

“It’s a serious case for RFMF so we have put up a requirement that it comes in within the next 24 hours .In fact I was initially briefed this morning and the assurance was given by the Commander Land Force they would submit the report within 24 hrs.”

Brigadier General Kalouniwai says the investigating team will be looking at the serial number identified at the base of the rounds.

A garbage bag containing a green pouch with one by 30 rounds and two loose caliber 5.66mm was discovered by a fifty-four-year-old man.
