The Attorney General – Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has criticised at the submissions made by some former Politicians to the Pacific Ministerial Contact Group last week.
Sayed-Khaiyum says some of the submissions made were self serving, unhelpful, and not progressive.
“What people need to be concerned about is whether the system and processes are transparent or not – that is the key and I think that is the issue that is lost.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says while the previous election was held under democratic system , it had various anomalies.
“The EU report identified a number of problems with the process and the elections office previously notwithstanding the fact that there was a supervisor of elections – there were still problems.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says people need to think about the real issues as we move forward.
