A new wing to be constructed at Lautoka hospital

There will be a new wing built at the Lautoka Hospital.

Speaking at the 2019/2020 Budget consultation in Lautoka today, Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is part of the deal with Aspen Medical who will be taking over the hospital in July.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the new wing will have 300 beds.

He says there will be 24/7 open heart surgery facilities available in the hospital as well.

The Minister says this means that people from other Pacific island countries will have to come to Fiji for those surgeries, thus creating economic growth with more money coming in.
