At least 50 people, including 10 children are currently stranded on Nadi Bridge due to the floods that have wreaked havoc across the Western division.
Habib Khan, who is among those on the bridge, says that they have had nothing to eat since breakfast, as they had to evacuate their homes in a hurry, only to be stranded whilst crossing the bridge.
“There are more than 50 people on the bridge. And the situation getting bad now because the weather is not stopping. That is the situation going on now and we got small children, about 10 small children here but they haven’t eaten any food till morning till now. Only just having breast milk and normal milk. That’s the situation here. No food is here all the items in our house has been destroyed in floods because we have no option.”
Khan says although the water levels are beginning to recede, they are still not able to leave the bridge.
