Twenty-five solar streetlights have been installed in Nailaga Village, Ba by the Fiji Roads Authority.

Acting General Manager Electrical, Musheer Khan says the FRA invested in a system that collects and stores energy from the sun and uses it to light up a section of its arterial road through the Nailaga Village.

Khan says the new solar lighting system has been designed in Australia utilising NASA’s solar insolation data for Fiji.

He says the standalone system has been specifically designed to provide up to thirteen hours of operation with fifty-six hours autonomy.

FRA says it’s important that each individual and every institution do their part in supporting sustainable energy solutions.
