2016 National Budget passed by 25 votes

The 2016 National Budget was passed in parliament last night.

The 2016 Appropriation Bill 2015 and Bill number 23 was passed by 25 votes.

Seventeen members voted against the Budget while six did not vote.

Speaker of the House Dr Jiko Luveni thanked the members for their input.

“Parliament has now passed the 2016 Budget. I congratulate all members on their contribution on this very important process.”

The 2016 Budget is over $3.9 billion.

Parliament will look at a number of consequential Bills today.
