Fijian Boxer Josateki Naisau is determined to make his return to the ring count, as he prepares to face a familiar opponent with unfinished business at the Zeg Boxing Promotions event.
The Ra man, who will compete in the 70 to 75-kilogram lightweight category, is set to meet Josaia Ravuwai in a three-round exhibition bout, with each round lasting three minutes.
The two are no strangers to each other, having previously met in the amateur ranks two years ago, where Naisau walked away with the victory.
Now, with their rivalry moving into the professional boxing scene, Naisau knows his opponent will be eager to turn the tables.
But the boxer, who has been preparing for the fight since last year, remains confident he can deliver another winning performance.
He says he is determined to keep improving and make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.
“I am training really hard because one day I hope to travel and gain as much boxing experience as I can from whatever opportunities come my way.”
Beyond the hard work in the gym, Naisau says the support of his family back in Ra has been a major source of motivation.
Several family members have already travelled to Suva days ahead of the fight, with more expected to make the journey to support him on fight night.
With familiar opposition standing across the ring and his family firmly behind him, Naisau will be looking to turn his preparation into another statement victory.
Zegs Boxing is set for Saturday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
