The 2019 International Weightlifting Federation Junior World Championships Organizing Committee has appointed Brazilian, Pedro Meloni, as its Competition Manager.
Meloni will manage the World Junior Championship which will be hosted in the country in June.
Committee Member Dr Robin Mitchell says Meloni was the Sport Manager for the Weightlifting and Power-lifting tournaments at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
He says Meloni has built a reputation of running weightlifting meets and is highly recommended.
Meloni will arrive in the country in April together with a delegation from the IWF for a technical visit to review the preparations for the event.
He will be based in Suva for two weeks prior to the World Championships.
The Championship will be held on the 1st to the 8th of June at the newly renovated Vodafone Arena.
