Vodafone Cup finals tomorrow

September 24, 2015 6:10 pm

The Fiji National Rugby League will come down hard on ill-discipline during the Vodafone Cup grand-final in Suva tomorrow.

Following the free-for-all brawl between Sabeto Roosters and Burenitu Cowboys players in the semi-finals last week, FNRL Board Director Tomi Finau today issued a stern warning to teams that will feature in the Top 8 and Premier Grade finals on Saturday.

“In rugby league, we have an understanding that whenever two players have a physical encounter, it’s between them. The players that run in to join them get punished more severely than the ones who are fighting. That is the general understanding and it has been quite a long time since we have never seen this behaviour that we saw last Saturday.”

Finau adds a disciplinary hearing today will determine the punishment for players involved in the brawl last week.

Meanwhile, Nabua Broncos will take on Sabeto Roosters in the Top 8 grand final at 6:15pm tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium while Navatulevu Herons battles Coastline Roos in the Premier grade final at 5:40pm.

Games will begin at 11am with the finals of the Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 as well as the Reserve grades at Bidesi Park.
