Talented players identified in Primary Schools-Costin

Some talented players have been identified following the Primary Schools Rugby League Nationals at Buckhurst Park yesterday.

There were a lot of interest shown by female players, some of whom came all the way from Dreketi.

“But down the track we are going to put things into place with the academy and skill development systems that are actually going to help build, promote and develop NRL professional elite rugby league players.”

The national coach was impressed with the commitment of the teachers and parents in preparing these youngsters.

“We are talking about a 10 year plan and there’s 12 year old boys and girls here that in 10 years’ time that will be professional rugby league players in Australia, that’s the long range plan but today is about having fun and really loving what you do.”

The FNRL credits its development officers and the NRL team based in Fiji for the school visits which have generated a lot of interest.

Teams all the way from Dreketi, Nadi and Nadroga were part of the national championship which ended in Suva yesterday.
