Tabakaucoro set to World Championships

Pacific sprint king, Banuve Tabakaucoro is gearing up for a good outing in the IAAF World Athletics Championships in China this weekend.

The 22 year old is chasing 10.16 seconds in the 100 meters event in order to qualify for the Rio Olympics Games next year.

Tabakaucoro won the gold medal in the event at the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea in a new record time of 10.22 seconds.

World record holder and Olympic champion, Usain Bolt of Jamaica will be competing in the same event in China.

Natabua High School student, Waisale Dausoko will also be competing in the World Championship in the long jump event.

Both athletes are being accompanied by local coach, Bola Tafou.

Tabakaucoro will participate in the 100 meters preliminary race on Saturday, while the semi-finals and final will be held on Sunday.
