The Fiji Bitter Wairiki Rugby 7s got off to a great start for the hosts in Taveuni today.

The Somosomo Sharks proved to be the outstanding team on day one as tournament organiser, Jone Vuki brings us the updates.

“Somosomo Sharks beat Savuqani 17-7, Nacakawau beat Svauvsau 12-10, Buca Bay Babas beat Tagimoucia Blues 17-7, Somosomo beat Matanawai Brothers 46-0, and Wailagi beating Paradise 24-0.”

Tournament favourites Police has yet to show their true colours, laced with former reps, Peni Gaunimeke and Sakenasa Aca.

They are under the guidance of former reps Manasa Bari and Etuate Gusuivalu.

Netball begins tomorrow while volleyball will be played on Saturday.
