Suva defeats Nadroga in round two of Skipper Cup

Defending champion Suva bagged its second win beating BLK Nadroga 34-16 in the second round of the Skipper Cup premiership.

Nadroga’s right winger Nacanieli Narekuva made an early break in the first minute of the game to score the opening try for his side.

A successful conversion sees them leading defending champion Suva, 7-0 early in the first half.

Suva clapped back with a try on the side from forward Tuifagalele Sorovakatini to narrow the margin 7-5.

Suva’s relentless attack pressured Nadroga, forcing a mistake from the Sigatoka side for which Suva’s Vice Captain John Stewart capitalizes on with a try to put them ahead of Nadroga 12-7.

A high-tackle from Suva sees Elia Cakanaivata sent to the sin bin 30 minutes into the game.

The tough defence from both teams leaves the score static 12-7 at the breather.

Apisalome Waqatabu of Nadroga converted a successful penalty early into the second spell to narrow the margin 12-10.

Suva’s outside centre Apisalome Vota then went in for another try for the Capital side to extend their lead 19-10.

Nadroga’s Apisalome Waqatabu punishes Suva with a successful penalty kick, 42 meters from the goal post to gain an extra 3 points.

Suva’s fullback Setareki Raoba converted another penalty for his side to further extend their lead 22-13.

Nadroga continued their solid attack to earn another penalty kick to get their points to 16.

Tuifagalele crossed the Nadroga’s whitewash to ground his second try for Suva, extending their lead 29-16.

Suva maintained their solid form to score one more last try to seal the game 34-16.

In other matches, Nadi defeated Northland 26-19, Namosi beat Tailevu 27-17 while Naitasiri beat Rewa 27-19.
