Ra proved to be the most impressive team at the western zone rugby league competition in Rakiraki yesterday.
Fiji National Rugby League development officer, Sale Tubuna says upsetting Lautoka in their first match yesterday was impressive.
“Top teams are looking forward to turning the Vodafone Cup rugby league competition on 2013, the Western selection team was selected and six members from the Ra zone have been named. There’s been positive responses about Ra who only started playing this year.”
Yesterday’s results saw Ra upset Lautoka 19-10 before the maroons redeemed themselves in the second round to beat Ra 20-nil.
Nadi beat Lautoka 12-10.
The East Zone competition will be played today before a Fiji Residents side is chosen next week to compete in the Battle of the Bati tournament next month.
