OFC Under 20 trophy to tour Labasa

June 5, 2014 4:54 am

The OFC Under 20 football trophy which Fiji won at the play-offs last week will be on a tour to Labasa on Saturday for local football fans to enjoy.

Fiji U20 football coach Ravinesh Kumar says it is a small gesture for the people of the north who may not have been able to watch the boys in action in Suva last week.

Kumar adds it allows them a chance to celebrate the historic feat.

“People in north deserve to touch the trophy, take pictures and celebrate our victory. I will also meet the parents of young Ashneel Raju and Roy Krishna and meet all those who helped the team in any way especially the schools.”

Kumar says plans are being made to take the trophy around the country later this year.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the trophy will be displayed at the Vodafone Branch in Labasa from 9am until mid-day before being taken to Subrail Park at 1pm where Labasa hosts Ba in their Fiji Sun/ Skipper Tuna National League match.

A live commentary of this match will air on Radio Fiji Two with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
