Naholo says family is what matters

The motivation behind Fijian born All Black Waisake Naholo is to do his best every time he is on the rugby field and earn a living to support his family back in Fiji.

Speaking exclusively to FBC Sports from New Zealand, Naholo says the first thought that came to his mind while his name was announced for the All Blacks was his parents who sacrificed a lot for him to further his studies in New Zealand and chase his rugby dream.

“First thing I did was I called my parents in Fiji and we talked about it. There was a lot of emotions and it was overwhelming. I have not forgotten of how I was brought up and what all we have been through. It has always been at the back of my head and I think all I that we have gone through is part of what I am doing today.”

Naholo did not hear the announcement of the All Blacks squad, but was notified when he received a lot of text messages from his friend.

Meanwhile, Naholo also scored two tries to help the Highlanders beat the Chiefs 24 – 14 and secure a semifinal showdown against the Waratahs this weekend.
