The upgrading of the Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka is at its final stage and expected to open early next year.

$3 million was allocated from this year’s national budget for the upgrading works.
The ground was closed down last year and was only open to host a few Farebrother Challenge matches.

“Lawaqa Park is actually scheduled to be open in January and we are very pleased with how the contractors are coming along with that. The roofs are being done and the Multi-purpose court is done.”

The upgraded sporting venue will feature a whole new lot of facilities such as the new hard courts for Netball and Volleyball and new changing rooms for teams.

The new and improved Lawaqa Park is expected to host the 2016 Fiji Baileys Coral Coast 7s on the 14th to 16thof January.
