FSC eyes sevens tournaments

The Fiji Sports Council says plans are falling into place as they hope to secure an international sevens tournament for the ANZ Stadium.

Council chairman Peter Mazey says talks have started and Fiji could host a World Sevens Series tournament.

Mazey says having an international standard venue will help Fiji get international events.

“The bookings are coming for next year and are looking very very healthy, and we getting very positive vibes on an international sevens tournament here, we getting positive vibes on international peace matches both football and rugby. And now we are hoping to work with rugby league, which is growing so much.”

Once the stadium is completed, the Sports Council will get the international sporting bodies to certify the ground.
