The Fiji Airways 7s team has advanced to the cup quarter-finals of the Sydney 7’s tournament this afternoon after a hard-fought match against Russia.
Despite defeating Russia 24-0, the Fijian side struggled in the first half trying to get possessions.
Amenoni Nasilasila and Eroni Sau both scored a try each in the first half to put them into the lead 14-nil at half time.
Josua Vakurunabuli and Jerry Tuwai contributed a score each in the second half to extend their lead and book their spot in the quarter-final.
Fiji will face New Zealand in its last pool match at 8.42pm tonight.
The Cup quarter-final kicks off at 12.28pm tomorrow, semi-final begins at 6.36pm and the final is schedule for 9.48pm.
