Fiji players dont play for money-McKee

June 10, 2015 6:37 pm

Vodafone Flying Fijians coach John McKee says the players that represent the country are always proud to don the white jersey.

The Kiwi mentor was responding to questions from the media on how much the players in the Rugby World Cup squad will receive during the tournament in England in September.

“The players that play for Fiji play because they want to represent their country and for their families; they don’t do it because they want to get rich. In Fiji, we look to pay something to the players that are fare and this is within the FRU’s means.”

McKee will trim his squad of 53 players to 40 tomorrow to prepare for the Maori All Blacks clash in Suva on June 11th as well as the Pacific Nations Cup, which starts the following week.
