The Fiji Football Association will now be able to apply for funding from Oceania Football Confederation after FIFA has lifted the restriction.

This was announced during the Fiji FA 80th Ordinary Congress Meeting at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa this morning.

Fiji FA Chief Executive Mohammed Yusuf says the funding was stopped by FIFA in January last year when OFC was facing some financing issues and the resignation of its president and secretary.

He says they can now apply funding for the national teams and for the coaching development in the country.

“It’s a great thing now that OFC have now reformed and Fiji can now access that funding from whatever we’re getting now and whatever we managed through sponsors, gate takings and now we can apply for more funding lie the under 23 player coming up next year and we can apply finds to take our team overseas for buildup.”

FIFA will release about $15 to16 million dollars per year to OFC for all the Oceania countries.
