Fiji beats Japan

The Fiji 7s team notched their second win in Tokyo after betaing Japan 26-7 with one more pool game to go.

Jimilai Naikadawa grabbed his first try of the tournament within the first two minutes of play after team-mate Joeli Lutumailagi created space for him to dot down in the corner and lead 5-0.

Fiji raked in four tries in the match – their second came from Lutumailagi who dove over the try-line following a kick upfront by playmaker, Metuisela Talebula.

Japan got lucky before the breather after a quick recycle of the ball and a missed tackle by Fiji skipper, Setefano Cakau saw Japan’s Takehisa Usuzuki grab a five-pointer.

Fiji led 12-7 at halftime.

Fiji regrouped in the second half to grab two converted tries through Joji Ragamate and forward, Levani Botia.

Their final pool game is at 10.06pm against England.

In other results – Argentina thumped Russia 22-0, so too did Wales over Kenya.

South Africa beat Portugal 12-7, Samoa beat Scotland 14-7, England beat France 19-7, USA pipped Hong Kong 21-19, Russia upset Kenya 26-17 and Portugal beat Scotland 17-5.
