Cook Islands to play own style of rugby

June 23, 2014 12:11 am

The Cook Islands rugby team will not imitate the pattern of the Vodafone Flying Fijians when the two teams meet in a 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifier in Lautoka on Saturday.

The Cooks start as the underdogs in the game, but are quietly confident of overcoming the odds.

Assistant coach Brent Semmons, knows it is a big ask, but says it is about getting the players, implementing the right game plan, and hoping it all pans out on the day.

He adds they will not be playing too much of a attacking game against Fiji because it could land the Cooks in trouble against the experienced Fijians.

The game starts at 3pm at Churchill Park and you can catch a live commentary on BULA FM.
