St Josephs settled in second place with 19 gold, 22 silver and 10 bronze while Nuku Secondary finished in third place with three gold and three silver.

Suva Grammar School Girl’s Blue Ribbon champions Fane Sauvakacolo says winning the 100 metres race final did not come as a surprise for her.

“I’ve expected the competition which made me very competitive in the race. My rivals from St Josephs and also other schools were very competitive that has pushed me to boost my confidence.”

St. Joseph’s Team Manager Sovaia Raboiliku says it is unfortunate that they lost their golden girl Helena Young at this year’s meet.

She says they will work with the talent they have that’s qualified from today’s Suva Zone 2 to chase a better finish at this year Fiji Finals.

“We’re trying our best to do with whatever we have. We came this morning with 65 athletes and they are doing well and we’re hoping to get a good number in the Fiji finals.”

In the boy’s division, Marist Brothers High School defended the title bagging 34 gold, 26 silver and 20 bronze followed by Suva Grammar in second place with 17 gold medals, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals.
