A successful day on the track and field for team Fiji with Banuve Tabakaucoro wrapping up the competition with his 3rd gold medal at the Pacific Games.
Tabakaucoro anchored the 4×100 meters relay to gold in Samoa today where they clocked 40.18 seconds..
Tabakaucoro says he had to do it for his relay team of Jim Colasau, Albert Miller Junior and Tony Lemeki after beating Jeremy Dodson again in the relay.
He says he did his best as he wanted his teammates to stand on the winning podium.
Meanwhile, Heleina Young was quite emotional after she anchored the Womens 4×100 meters relay.
She finished ahead of Pacific Sprint Queen Toea Wisil of Papua New Guinea.
Young says had to empty the tank in the last 50 meters as Wisil was behind her.
Fiji Athletics won a total of 9 gold medals in this Pacific Games compared to 7 in Papua New Guinea 4 years ago.
