2 players withdraw from Fiji 7s

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach is lamenting the withdrawal of two promising players from training camp in Deuba this week.

Filipo Daugunu and Kaveni Dabenaise have taken up playing contracts in Australia.

Ryan says the last-minute change has denied him the chance to bring in two new replacements into the squad.

“They are not joining professional clubs, they are amateur clubs that are lower level. They made the decision to go to these clubs in Australia. I hope that their visas are in order. We wish them the best but I had wished they had told us rather than coming into camp and telling us. It’s harder to replace those players and it’s given two boys a missed opportunity.”

The next leg of the World Series will be the Las Vegas 7s, which will be held on March 5th-7th.
