“They lost their parents to diabetes and the family they don’t want any relationship to their diabetes. They ask for the social welfare assistance. Now they will go to social welfare. So we are trying our best to encourage them not to lose hope.”

Tabua says the medical equipment donated by the Equal Med is expected to bring relief to the two girls and other patients.

Meanwhile the founder of Equal Med Niveeta Sharma shared the same sentiments.

“Since diabetes is a leading NCD here in Fiji it is important that we have these supplies and equipment out to the patients’ population so the diabetes doesn’t worsen into complications where it can lead to limb amputation.”

Equal Ned today donated around $400,000 worth of medical supplies.
