Young boy takes stand in alleged rape case

The trial of a 14-year‑old boy who was allegedly raped by his four uncles revealed in court today that his education has been really affected since the alleged incident.

The case was heard before High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.

While being cross examined by the state counsel, the young boy highlighted that he can’t focus on his school work.

He told the court that he was taken to the Nausori Hospital to be medically examined in March, 2016 and after his examination he was escorted to the Police Station.

Meanwhile Defence Counsel Nemani Tuifagalele asked the witness whether at any time he was informed by somebody to tell his story in court.

He replied no, however his family only wished him well and told him to tell the truth in court.

The alleged incident occurred in Tailevu between November 2015 to March last year.

The boy was 13-year-old at the time of the alleged incident.

The four men have been charged with one count each of rape and all of them have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial continues.
