Woman charged for allegedly harboring an escapee

A woman in her 20s will be produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court today for allegedly harboring an escaped prisoner.

The accused is the partner of escapee Nacanieli Bakata and upon investigations, it was discovered that she had allegedly assisted Bakata on two different occasions since his escape on the 17th of this month.

The woman is alleged to have taken food to Bakata on the 19th and 21st of this month in Korociri and Votualevu.

The accused has been charged with two counts of harboring a prisoner.

While police continues the search of escapees Nacanieli Bakata, Ilaitia Vuivuda and Josaia Leone, members of the public are once again reminded that it is an offence to aid and harbor prisoners.
