The newly appointed World Health Organisation Regional Director, Dr. Takeshi Kasai made a courtesy call to the Health Minister Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete this week.

Dr. Kasai brings with him 30 years of experience serving at various levels in the public health sector in Japan and other international engagements.

The visit is envisioned to further enhance the WHO support to Fiji in terms of potential development in strengthening health service delivery.

Dr. Waqainabete conveyed his appreciation to Dr. Kasai for the immediate and timely visit and has vowed to work closely with WHO to lift the health services for all Fijians.

While in Fiji Dr. Kasai will be visiting the Pacific Eye Institute, Tamavua Hospital and Fiji Centre for Communicable Disease Control.
