West businesses need to be more proactive

Around 20 participants from small and medium enterprises in the Western Division are currently attending a two day training that will help them better prepare for natural disasters.

USAID Climate Ready Budget Team Leader, Lee Baker says they want businesses to become proactive when dealing with natural disasters.

“How do you prepare for a disaster especially in advancement because you don’t just have the disaster come and people don’t show up and your buildings are damaged. It’s trying to plan in advance all the possible outcomes of a natural disasters.”

Baker believes businesses that are prone to natural disasters need to have a continuity plan.

However, Baker also commended the efforts by businesses in the Western Division for bouncing back after experiencing two cyclones and major flooding.
