US assists flood victims

The Embassy of the United States in Suva, has donated USD 100,000 to Rotary Fiji and USD 50,000 to the Fiji Red Cross for the provision of emergency relief supplies.

These include blankets, water purification tablets and hygiene kits to areas and people affected by the devastating floods.

A statement from the embassy says the United States understands well the vulnerabilities of its friends in the Pacific to natural disasters.

The United States commends the government’s response to the floods and remains committed to helping the people of Fiji with disaster relief efforts.
