The Suva High Court has given a life sentence to two men for murdering a relative in August 2012 at Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Ilikimi Naitini and Pailato Cavasiga assaulted Tevita Voivoi who was visiting relatives with his wife.

Voivoi, who was also drunk at the time – was first assaulted by Naitini and later joined by Cavasiga who struck him with a wooden post.

The victim died at the CWM hospital due to cracked skull and subdural haemorrhage.

Judge Justice Paul Madigan sentenced 31 year old Naitini to 18 years imprisonment without the possibility of a pardon.

33 year old Cavasiga must serve a minimum of 16 years before he is eligible for pardon.
