Truck driver questioned and released

The driver of the three tonne truck that killed a woman early yesterday morning in Nausori has been questioned, cautioned and released.

Eye witnesses and passengers have also been questioned and released.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro told FBC News they will have to wait for the post mortem before they could proceed with investigations.

The post mortem is expected to be conducted either this afternoon or tomorrow.

The truck was carrying 12 passengers from Navunimoni village in Verata Tailevu early yesterday morning to sell their produce at the Suva market when the accident happened.

Naisoro says the driver lost control of the truck and veered off the road bumping into a lamp post near Kasavu village.

Two other women were injured however have been treated at the Nausori health center and sent home.
