A five year old is the youngest child to call on the Child Helpline 1325.
Child Helpline started earlier this year and thousands of calls have been made by children, requesting assistance.
Child Helpline Project Manager – Peci Baledrokadroka says out of the 4645 calls – the majority were genuine calls while others were prank calls.
“A holistic approach has been provided for our internal referrals. We do follow ups and we continue to counsel them and refer them to medical if there’s a need or if there’s a need for legal assistance then we help the children with this for further case management.”
63 percent of the calls were made by children from the Central Division.
26 percent calls were received from Western Division.
Eight percent children in the Northern division used the helpline to voice their concerns while 7.3 percent calls came from the Eastern division.
