November 25, 2017 6:45 pm

The recent exercises being carried out by the Ministry of Fisheries on protecting some marine resources is done to conserve them for the future generations.

This was highlighted by fisheries officer, Meli Raicebe who says it’s important that more awareness on sustaining our resources is being carried out so Fijians are educated on its importance.

“We’re trying to sustain the resources that we actually have and ever since we were young we were told the sandalwood industry and also the beche-de-mer and the whaling industry were a boom and bust industry. Basically, we are not waiting for it to actually bust, we are actually trying to sustain it so that come a few years down the line we are able to benefit from the resource that we are sustaining now.”
