The frequent speeding cases recorded along the newly built Nakasi-Nausori four lane road has become an issue for some students.

Salome Vone, who attends the Fiji National University says some drivers even disregard the pedestrian crossing and speed through it, putting their lives at risk.

“I usually use this road and sometimes we are frightened to cross the road because of over speeding. Trucks, buses as other vehicles often drive at higher limit and speed here.”

19-year-old Salome says it’s high time that drivers follow the road rules.

“It’s simple, they just have to limit their speed because they should consider those crossing road as the Suva-Nausori corridor is always busy.”

The Fiji Roads Authority says they are working to get speed cameras installed in this area, to assist in curbing the issue.
