A 41-year-old man has been sentenced to 11-years imprisonment to raping his 17-year-old step-daughter.

The incident happened in 2013 when the victim went to stay with her mother and step-father.

The Court heard the perpetrator had caught the girl smoking inside the bathroom and forcefully opened the door.

He then sexually assaulted her in return for keeping her secret about smoking.

The complainant decided to tell her teacher one morning after her step-father dropped her to school and told her not to return home until she had made up her mind to have sexual relations with him.

He has a non-parole period of 9 years.
