Rudra Maharaj found guilty by the assessors

The three independent assessors have found the former information and Public Relations Officer at the Prime Minister’s Office – Rudra Maharaj guilty of one count of Bribery.

Maharaj was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption in September three years ago.

Maharaj accepted an advantage of $2,000 cash and two cheques amounting to $10,000 from one Avin Prakash on account of using influence in procuring a contract.

Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando told the assessors they are the judges of facts and they should not speculate but go with the evidences they hear in court.

Maharaj is on bail and will reappear in the Suva High Court at 2.30pm tomorrow.
