Potholes have become a major concern not only for the public but for the Fiji Roads Authority as well.

The authority says there are many potholes on the roads because of the rainy weather that we’ve been experiencing for the past few weeks.

To address this, the authority has already started replacing entire sections of roads along highways.

Chief executive Jonathan Moore says by doing this – the road conditions are expected to improve.

“In Navua, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu and other parts of the country, long sections of the highways have been changed. They have not just been resurfaced with a simple layer, we have dug down and reconstructed the whole road and that will last for much longer. These areas will be free of potholes for much longer.”

Moore says apart from the rain, heavy vehicles have also been blamed for damaging the roads.
