Ro Teimumu Kepa to retire

This will be the last term in office for the former Opposition Leader and Paramount Chief of Rewa, Ro Teimumu Kepa.

In her maiden speech, Kepa says after close to two decades in politics, she’s ready to retire at the end of 2020.

“Although this is my fourth term in Parliament and will definitely be my last. There are younger talented people coming up through the SODELPA ranks and it is important for them to be given space to grow and utilize their talents in the service of Fiji."

In the House, merely as an Opposition MP this time around, the former SODELPA leader commends her successor on his rise within the ranks.

“I extend my personal best wishes to the new Leader of Opposition. We worked together well during the campaign and will continue in that spirit of cooperation. The Honorable Sitiveni Rabuka Madam Speaker has proved that he is the right man in the right place at the right time.”

She’s also confident that he may yet again attain the Prime Minister’s position.

Ro Teimumu comparing the campaign and election to the biblical battle of Goliath the giant and David, in which the opposition won the battle or in this case, six more seats than the last term.
