Attempts by Social Democratic Liberal Party members to appoint a proposed Party leader have gone unnoticed by current leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

According to the reports in today’s Fiji Sun a party meeting was held in Nadera in which Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s name was proposed as Deputy Party leader.

Speaking to FBC News Rabuka says he is not aware of any party meeting, however, he says they’ve amended their Constitution to allow for a Deputy Leader to be appointed.

“I think it will be best for them to approach Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and then after that clarification and approval then they can take it up to the board.”

Rabuka says the party’s different branches can submit names to the board and the final decision whether an appointment will be made lies with the Board.
