The National Council of Women Fiji is urging political parties to include more women as its candidates to contest the 2018 General Election.

Council General Secretary, Fay Volatabu says women are capable to be politicians as both male and female perspectives are needed during decision making in parliament.

“The political party first and foremost, look at the lineup of women and try and push as many women as they can in their lineup and for women who are out there, if you know that you can contribute to Fiji, please put up your hand and support the political parties and for the voters please study the lineup that you get and ensure that you vote the best candidate and I would promote that you vote for more women into parliament this year.”

The Council has already started with its campaign and more programmes to help women who are willing to undertake leadership roles.

The Council is also ready to support women who wish to contest the 2018 General Elections.
