Authorities are searching for a 20 year-old man who was swept away by strong currents while swimming in the Wainibuka River yesterday.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri says Amitesh Prasad – a tour guide of Nadi was swimming with his girlfriend in the river when he was swept away.

Police were notified and a search was conducted along the river.

The search was called off last night after they failed to locate Prasad.

The search continues this morning.
