A shop assistant is in police custody after he was found in possession of a missing bag that contained passports and overseas currencies.

Police say the bag belonged to a 32-year-old Indian National who had forgotten it at a coffee shop on Wednesday afternoon.

She reported the bag missing when she returned to the spot and couldn’t find it.

Upon enquiry police apprehended a suspect who works at the coffee shop and recovered all the items and some of the money.

The hand bag was returned to the owner who left the country yesterday while the man is still in custody waiting to be charge.
