PM highlights benefits of setting business in Fiji

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama told potential investors in Vancouver Canada that Fiji is emerging as the economic, communications and technological hub of the Western South Pacific quickly.

Speaking during the network breakfast with Vancouver Board of Trade Bainimarama said a lot of reforms have been implemented to allow investing in Fiji easier.

He says investors will not only find talented and educated English speaking workforce in Fiji, but they will be able to import capital equipment and goods duty-free.

Bainimarama says investors can enjoy the lowest corporate taxes – a flat rate of 20%, with a reduction of 17% for companies that base their international or regional headquarters in Fiji.

He says foreign investors can take advantage of preferential trading arrangements with other Pacific Island countries as well as Australia and NZ.

Bainimarama says investors will enjoy tax-free status for 13 years if they invest in certain targeted regions of the country.

The Prime Minister is in Canada to celebrate Fiji Day with former Fiji citizens.
